Regatta for the Disabled 2025

Our South Oxfordshire Mencap Society team won the Carolyn Molyneux Challenge Cup at the Regatta for the Disabled held in Henley-on-Thames on Saturday 30 August. Five teams entered the Regatta this year. The Carolyn Molyneux Challenge Cup is presented to the team who shows most effort, stoicism and resilience. And they also had a lot of fun! The trophy was presented to the team by local MP Freddie van Mierlo.

The Regatta for the Disabled is held every year at Phyllis Court Club Paddock on the first Saturday after the late summer Bank Holiday. Over 400 visitors attended the event, enjoying a wheelchair-accessible climbing wall, a mini-farm zoo, a circus skills workshop, a craft stall, rowing machines, a treasure hunt and many other activities.

The Rivertime Boat Trust provided river trips throughout the day on their wheelchair-accessible boat – a unique opportunity for many disabled visitors to enjoy the river!

Congratulations to the team and thanks to the organizers of a wonderful event!
