Fantastic performance at the Regatta for the Disabled

Congratulations to the South Oxfordshire Mencap team for reaching the bellboat racing final at the Regatta for the Disabled!

The annual Regatta for the Disabled is a fun day out for those with disabilities and their families and carers. Our members had a great day enjoying activities ranging from a petting zoo, circus skills, a climbing wall, rowing machines, jewellery making, and Punch and Judy, to trips on the wheelchair-accessible boat from the Rivertime Boat Trust with spectacular views of the scenery up and down the Thames at Henley.

Our team (blue boat in the photo) was beaten in the bellboat racing final by the narrowest of margins – half a second! It was a photo finish. The group is now even more motivated for next year’s race. Recruitment for the 2025 team has begun.

Thanks to Marie for organizing and inspiring the team and all participants for their great achievement and enthusiasm. Looking forward to 2025!
