We took to the high seas of the River Thames for a memorable 4-hour cruise on Saturday 21 September to celebrate the 25th anniversary of South Oxfordshire Mencap.
VIPs, South Oxfordshire Mencap members with their families and carers, and volunteers, enjoyed a wonderful high tea aboard the ‘New Orleans’, entertained by jazz musician Ken Fitt and Jill Day on the accordion. Both have been keen supporters of Mencap over the years and have provided us with many hours of entertainment. Inside the boat there was a festive party atmosphere and the sun shone for long enough in the afternoon to enjoy the upper deck and view the stunning scenery.
Tributes and thanks were paid to the many people who have volunteered their time and skills and have supported the development of South Oxfordshire Mencap and our local Meteor Club since its foundation, not least our Chairman for the last 21 years, Paul Barrett.
And thanks to our members who bring us all together!
